Ida’s Questions to Me:
Where does your blog name come from? It was going to be “Silver Linings of a Cloudy Mind.” But as I was walking the dog one day I saw a bunch of daisy’s on the field and they had pinky/purply tips to the petals. It reminded me of how me and my Gran would make daisy chains and she’d tell me they had been kissed by fairies. It reminded me of how I’d spend hours looking for these fairies, especially down this little fake well my Gran had in her garden or up her 3 apple trees. I wanted to an honest place to write and find myself like I wanted to find those fairies. Also I wanted to be anonymous, at least at first, and the blog name doesn’t reveal my name or where abouts I’m from.
What made you start blogging? I had a blog back in 2016 which was specific to Book Blogging, then in early 2017 for a month or so I started another blog specific to mental health. I missed blogging a lot but I didn’t want to box myself into a niche, I just wanted to have a place I felt I could talk about anything even if it meant I didn’t get many followers or much interaction.
Have you written stuff for fun before your blog? As well as the two blogs I mentioned above I have been writing novels from the age of 7/8 I have only ever completed 1 first draft before but I participate in NaNoWriMo every year and love nothing more than getting a new idea to start sinking my teeth into.
What’s your favourite post? I feel like my best posts are yet to come but so far I’d say my favourite post is Falling to Pieces to Falling into Place I felt completely vulnerable when I clicked to publish this post but it was good to get it off my chest and to open up.
The best comment you have received? I really don’t think I could could pick everyone has been so lovely I’m honestly so overjoyed with every comment I receive I never thought people would read my posts let alone take the time out to talk with me about them.
Is there something you’d like to try with your blog in the future? I’d like to post alot more about my writing and perhaps even share some poetry. I haven’t done any posts about this side of me yet because with the darkness that took over I haven’t completely got back to consistently writing again. The ideas for novels are all there but my mind gets so fuddled when I try to start.
what is your favourite dinosaur? I’m not that clued up on dinosaurs so I googled it and I like the look of Yutyrannus. Doesn’t it just look like a little old lady dino!
Ruth’s Questions to me:
When did you start blogging? I started on 9th April this year and I’m loving every second of it, the freedom but more importantly the people I’ve come to talk to.
What is one talent/skill you wish you had? This is a tricky one, I think I’d love to be able to draw and paint well. My older brother is really talented when it comes to art and it’s something he has tried to teach me before but I think you have to have real patience and practice a lot.
What’s the best present you ever received? My dad passed away christmas eve 2005 and a week or so later my mums best friend brought me a beautiful green box with a lilly on the lid for me to put some of his things in. This was my best present until Christmas 2016 when my mum and step dad gave me a memory stick with home videos on them, aside from one evening at my grans a year after he passed this was the first time I had seen my dad moving and heard his voice in 11 years! For me it is not money being spent it is the thought behind the gift and to give me the gift of seeing and hearing my dad again, you can’t put a price on that!
Who inspires you? Me and my mum have had a somewhat turbulent relationship but as I get further into my recovery journey and see things from more than just my victimhood side the more I admire my mum for all her strength. Everyone always says they have the best mum but I really do, even when tensions have been at our highest her love for me has never wavered.
How many people do you follow on twitter? At the minute I follow 239 but I’m always on the look out for other great people so feel free to let me know of any and all great people you follow in the comments.
Who’s your favourite TV character? the first person who comes to mind is JD from Scrubs (or the Janitor or Dr Cox, also from scrubs). I just love his quirkyness and how he daydreams almost as much as I do.
What aspect of blogging do you wish you had someone else to do for you? I don’t think there is any think I’d want someone else to do. I guess sometimes I wish my posts would write and schedule themselves so that I didn’t have to fight to find time.
